January’s triple conjunction between Venus, Mars, & the Sun in Capricorn
ALIGNING THE HEART, THE WILL, & THE SPIRIT
The start of 2026 brings a rare alignment between Venus, Mars, and the Sun in Capricorn offering us a grounding re-set and renewal. This cosmic meeting is the opportunity for our inspired purpose, our values, and our actions to get on the same page.
If we were to fully distill down the archetypes of Venus, Mars, and the Sun, we could understand and correlate them with the 3 sacred forces we all possess as humans —> I WISH, I CAN, I AM.
The Sun, The I AM force – Spirt, our light/conscious awareness which illuminates our experience, the part of us that claims “I Am”
Venus, The I WISH force – Yin/feminine, our desiring impulse, the ability to feel with our heart and know what it truly wishes for and to project this wish as an image into our mind’s eye so we might visualize and draw it towards us
Mars, The I CAN force – Yang/masculine, life force energy, creative and sexual impulse, survival instinct, the doing force and part of us that says “I Can”
When we consider this perspective, it becomes easy to see how all three must work together in order for conscious creation to occur. We need to know who we are (I AM) in order to fuel the will (I CAN) or else we might wrestle with imposter syndrome or feel defeated or confused before we even begin. And without the desire (I WISH) then we won’t know who to be or what to aim for. When all three forces come together it is that unstoppable force which is divine manifestation.
TRIPLE CONJUNCTION CYCLES
After looking back to the last Mars Sun conjunction in Capricorn in 1993, I noticed that roughly every 6 1/2 years we get the formation of the triple conjunction. It’s like we get a periodic cosmic adjustment where all three meet to decide what’s the most potent current desire, who do I have to be in order to get it, and what steps will I need to take that can make this my reality over the next 6+ years.
Our last triple conjunction was in Aug/Sep of 2019 through the signs of Leo and Virgo. It might be a supportive reflective practice to look over these dates and notice how you were aligning your sense of purpose and identity, your values, and your actions during the time of these past conjunctions. How does it relate to the houses where this conjunction took place? Was it near any personal planets or angles in your chart? You might find some insightful information that can support your experience of this current transit and how to actually work with its potential.
VENUS WITH THE SUN
If we consider Venus and the Sun on their own, the two come together every 9 months but their greater cycle can be mapped out in 4 and 8 year time periods. I won’t get into the whole explanation here but do take into consideration that this particular conjunction right now is calling back to the Venus retrograde we had through Capricorn back in January of 2022.
When Venus meets the Sun during her retrograde period, also called the inferior conjunction, this is when she is born as the morning star, signaling a beginning of this cycle. Right now Venus makes her conjunction to become an evening star, creating the superior conjunction, meaning she is at a point of culmination and preparing to eventually make her decent into the underworld which will happen during her retrograde through Scorpio this coming October.
What new beginnings (or endings) were you experiencing in regards to relationships back in Jan of 2022? What values did you reassess? What gifts or challenges are you noticing surfacing right now that may have stemmed from that time as Venus reaches this point of culmination? I invite you to welcome all the learning gained from that cycle to support this alignment with both Mars and the Sun.
SATURN’S INFLUENCE
While investigating conjunctions between Mars and the Sun, you might notice on the photo of my astrology table, I noted that the next conjunction between these two in 2028 (without Venus), is happening at 0 degrees of Aries, which is where the conjunction of Saturn and Neptune is occurring this February. There is something so brilliant and poetic about that. Especially since this current meeting between the Sun/Venus/Mars is happening in Capricorn which is ruled by Saturn.
Saturn governs over this seeding moment from the sign of Pisces where it is so very near the end of its journey through the zodiac. From here Saturn infuses all the knowledge and wisdom gained along the way into any intentions we are setting through this Sun/Venus/Mars conjunction. This includes all the things that Saturn has been and is actively releasing to lighten any unnecessary burdens moving forward.
The fact that in two years Mars and the Sun will meet at this 0 degree point of Aries reveals such divine orchestration and support for our continued becoming as this point is aligned with Saturn’s powerful new beginning through the signs. We might be deciding what our “I wish, I am, and I can” are right now, but in a few years we get to re-asses how our identity is aligning with our actions to fulfill that previous wish by taking stock in the exact spot where Saturn will have had its fresh start cozied up with Neptune.
TRANSITS AS DESTINATIONS ON A MAP
Degrees in the zodiac are activation points, creating a map of destinations that become infused with the energy of certain planetary transits. 0 degrees of Aries will be one of those destinations, holding the energy of the Saturn Neptune cycle for at least the next 36 years until they meet again in Gemini.
We can think of our own birth chart as a type of terrain in the same way. When the world transits align to our natal planets, or when a person in our life has planets connecting with certain destination points on our map, it allows us the opportunity to uniquely see and understand one another in ways other people cannot.
When big and perhaps traumatic things happen in our life, the chart of that moment can become a new map infused upon our own. Suddenly each year when the Sun returns to that destination in the chart where it was during that event it unearths all that was left unprocessed. There are new pain (or joy) points to consider we never had to think about before.
Astrology to me is all about learning to read the context of our lives equally through feeling and symbol, finding our way deeper and deeper in which allow us to expand further and further out beyond the limitations we have put upon ourselves.
